When it comes to buying a car, I have seen so many people spend more money than they should and just get worked since they are too lazy, busy or just don’t know how to shop right and work the deal.  I will share a story on how I got the car I wanted and spent much less and got much more.

I was on the market for a Brand New Nissan Altima S for of course the lowest possible price.  Since there are so many and everyone wants to sell there’s over someone else’s it makes the process easier for the buyer (if they are aware of this little detail).  When there is a high supply of a product and the demand is average you should be able to work with the price.  When it comes to a car there is almost always a surprising amount of mark up that gives you a great window of wiggle room when preparing to purchase your car of choice.  It basically comes down to your approach and the person you’re dealing with.  I have found that if you call in before hand and let them know that you are interested in a specific car and that you will come in that same day to purchase the car IF they give it to you for the price you want that they will usually go and ask they’re manager and get permission and get the price haggling out of the way before you even waste your time.  So I did exactly that and called around.  I ended up finding one in Southern California that would sell it to me for the price I wanted, which by the way was thousands of dollars cheaper than the ones available in my part of town.  They told me they would sell it to me at that price so I found a Tow Truck Company that would actually put the car on a flat-bed tow truck and ship it to my house for a minimal cost.  This made it possible for me to get my car of choice for the best possible price.

Think about it.  If you just go down to your local dealership and get what they give you.  They might not have the color you want, the price you want, and the condition you want.  By shopping around and using a shipping service you can get the best deal.  I always have a plan when it comes to buying a car.  If I didn’t I would have wasted so much money by now.

Like I said before, I do not like stressing about writing so I have created this platform for people to come to to learn about how to write without the constant feeling of being insufficient.  As you read through the articles that I will provide you will continue to grow in your knowledge of the topic.  The reason why a strong Statement of Purpose, with the proper format, is Continue reading

Thoughts and Stories……

If my friend came to me and asked me how he or she can know if they are ready for marriage, I would tell them that I think it is more of a state of mind than anything.  Most people look at how much money they have or where they are in their career path when considering starting a family.  I think more than someone being financially prepared for marriage, being Continue reading

Your statement of purpose will be one of the most important parts of your application process.  It will help the admissions team know more about who you are and what your direction and goals are in your career path.  Without a well written statement of purpose you can have your application passed aside.  I will help you learn not only how to write a strong statement of purpose but a influential one.  I will also focus a lot on helping with the feelings of intimidation when
writing one.

Let’s start with addressing the fact that a statement of purpose does not need to be just a big lists of facts about you and your history. Most of the time what they are looking for is a well written and conclusive portrayal of you as a hero.  Some SOPs are just too plain and need more substance.

Also remember that when writing your statement of purpose that this is the main portion that is in your control.  Your grades, records and even letters of recommendation are what they are and you can’t do anything about them but you can control the quality of your statement of purpose.  Of course choosing the people to give well written recommendations is important it’s just good to remember that you don’t control the content or method they use to write.

When writing your statement of purpose remember that it is your time to talk directly with the admissions team and to stand out of the pile of applications that they have to sort through.  You must convince them that you have that beam of light.  That you are the one that will bring value to the class that they are trying to create.  That you will bring innovative ideas and creativity to the class.

I know it seems intimidating to try and be the one that stands out in the mound of other interested people that are competing against you but remember that your skills, if significant, will be the very turning point for the team to realize that are another one that they are looking for.  That you will bring meat to the table while others are lacking.

I’ve written my own and, in the process, stressed till my body about burst.  I will mainly try and focus on good motivation and uplifting information that will help you avoid what I went through.  I would read it over and over and try to find where I might be lacking.  I had friends and family read it for advice and they would always come back and say that it sounded great but I never believed them.  Probably because of all the fear and anxiety I had about getting admitted.

I eventually came across a great book that led me to some great points and steps that I feel made me eliminate a large amount of stress and that showed me the way to success in this venture.  The book is called Conquering the College Admissions Essay in 10 Steps.  This book was very impactful and changed my whole mindset about writing.  I highly recommend it.  Another place I found a lot of useful information is somewhere you might have already been but it was on the statement of purpose website.

You will want to make sure that you are not writing this last minute.  Give yourself plenty of time to think write and correct your work.  If you breeze through your writing you are getting rid of the chance to be admitted.  Many times a well written statement of purpose will actually compensate for a lack of perfect grades or other negative aspects of your transcripts.  On the other hand a poorly written statement of purpose can eliminate the importance of your prefect grades since the application can be tossed aside.

So writing a good statement of purpose can not only strengthen the overall look of your application, it can definitely be the determining factor in your admission to the school of your choice.  Keep high spirits, give yourself enough time to do it right and remember not to stress.

Talk to you soon…

So, I’ve had Statement of Purpose format’s that have gotten responses super fast and literally had the best content, and others that I’ve pushed and pushed and it’s taken months to get a response. I still have some that I’m working on to adjust and reword to get responses, and this last week I had a big victory after months of working on one. She reached out to me yesterday to let me know that she had received my application and wanted to meet with me. May not sound like much but I think I have found what it takes. You have to be diligent and keep moving otherwise it get’s left behind.

Get Started and Keep on it.

Get Started and Keep on it.

In this case I’ve learned that things aren’t always as they seem. I’ve done all of my due diligence and found what I thought would be super easy wasn’t at all but I made it.   It’s funny because other times I’ve tried I thought it would be super difficult and ended up getting a response almost immediately. Sometimes it doesn’t make any sense at all, but I do know one thing for sure – if i have enough time I can get a response anywhere I want in the World. I definitely don’t have as many problems finding low hanging fruit now, but it’s taken a ton of trial and error to get that knowledge.

Bottom line, you have the power to connect with anyone from thin air anywhere in the world. DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH POWER THAT GIVES YOU?  Go get em!  Keep up the good work and don’t be hard on yourself.  Sometimes it’s just too random to take it personal.  I know you can write an amazing Statement of Purpose if you put your mind to it.  Peace.

I am constantly asked, “If someone has already written a statement of purpose for one school can they use it for another school?”.  You can definately use it for another school but you would want to make sure that you make proper changes so that it reflects what the school is looking for. You don’t want to just write a few for a few different schools.  You want to make sure that you write your statement of purpose and adjust it every time you send it to another school.  Send it to as many schools as you are able or willing to go to.  If you only write a few then you might not get through to the administrator.  You can change a few paragraphs within your statement of purpose and it will help you a lot.

Your first paragraph in your statement of purpose should be powerful and should describe yourself as a professional at anything that you do.  If you learned a skill explain when and why it’s important.  Explain what you are interested in so that they realized why you are who they are looking for.

Your second and third paragraph should explain why the department you are looking to get into is a good fit for you.  It should convince them that you are the man for the job or as I like to say it, “You’re their Huckleberry”.  Describe the skills you have and the work you’ve done and why that is exactly what they are looking for.  Make sure it is very intriguing and captivating.  I have worked in these offices and I know how tedious it can get to go through hundreds of these.  Make it grab them.

Statement of Purpose LengthLastly I would end with statements about why you are interested in the program and how you are the best fit person for it.  You’ll get it.  Keep your spirits high and before you know it it will be behind you.
